A group of 34 individual “angel” investors from Stark County and surrounding areas plan to form the Impact Angel Fund, which aims to invest in high-tech startup companies across the southern portion of Northeast Ohio — from Mansfield to Canton to Youngstown. Read more

An initiative called the Stark Entrepreneurship Alliance aims to bring together the expertise of business groups, academics and potential funders to assist entrepreneurs and spur job growth.

Kent State Stark has a Small Business Development Center on its Jackson Township campus, while next door, Stark State College runs a business incubator. Over in Alliance, there’s an accelerator for up-and-coming tech companies, and in downtown Canton, the Stark Development Board and Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce are doing their own work to promote local companies. Alliance Startup Fund Chooses Loan Recipients

The City of Alliance (cityofalliance.com) and the Technology Accelerator Alliance (TA2) (techalliance2.com) have chosen the first two young tech-based companies to receive $35,000 low-interest loans from the recently launched Alliance Startup Fund: Creative Target Systems and AMVONET.

“We’re so pleased to be able to provide this source of capital to these local growing firms,” said Brad Myers, Chief Executive at TA2. “Both companies have shown a commitment to leverage technology in order to improve upon existing industries – and both have chosen to do so right here in Alliance.” Read more

The Alliance Startup Fund supports entrepreneurs interested in growing their big ideas into big companies in the City of Alliance by offering payment-deferred, low interest loans of up to $35,000.
